Lanzhou Library, founded in 1957, is a comprehensive medium-sized public library (now a national first-class library). With the care and help of superior leaders and all walks of life, library construction has been developing continuously.

The main building of the library has four floors, with a construction area of 83 18 square meters. There are five libraries and newspapers in China, including literature and art books, comprehensive books, special books and ancient books and newspapers. There are 8 reading rooms, including consultation and retrieval, self-study, electronics, newspapers and periodicals, children's books, local documents and books donated by Hong Kong and Taiwan, with 600 reading seats. It subscribes to more than 800 kinds of newspapers and periodicals and has a collection of 400,000 books. Except for ancient books and special collections, the open pattern of "storing, borrowing and reading" is generally implemented. The collection has the latest social science, natural science and comprehensive books and periodicals; Since the 1950s, major newspapers and periodicals in China have had bound volumes. NPC newspapers and periodicals 1978 copies; There are a lot of precious documents in the collection, such as Twenty-four History of Mao Zedong's Comments, Fa Tie of Sanxi Hall, Si Quanyao and Twenty-six History, as well as exclusive collections of Lanzhou Chunqiu, Gaolan County Annals (Manuscript), modern famous paintings and unique local documents. The library adopts ILAS Ⅱ Ⅱ library automation integrated management system, which realizes the computer management automation of office, editing, circulation and retrieval, and receives 270,000 readers annually.

There are 56 employees in the library, including 2 with senior titles, 1 1 with intermediate titles, and 32 with college education or above. There are four departments: literature department, comprehensive department, network department and reader service department. In the construction of spiritual civilization in Lanzhou, library staff work hard, seek truth and be pragmatic, unite and contribute, and strive for first-class. In recent years, it has been awarded many honorary titles such as "provincial civilized library", "reader's favorite library", "provincial civilized unit", "advanced collective of grassroots cultural work in the province" and "Lanzhou March 8 Red Flag Collective".
