In addition, the culture of new york is very diverse. There are residents of various ethnic groups and many international students in the school. However, there are differences between schools, but according to an American brother who finished his Ph.D., most of the graduate schools (master's and doctor's degrees) of Computer College are students from China and India. This statement was verified by what I learned when I applied, and the computer of new york University was no exception. Other colleges are slightly different. The school's public facilities are perfect, and you can generally think of them. In NYU's building, there are basically public ***Wi-Fi signals for surfing the Internet. Just provide your student ID and password. Especially the library should make good use of it. Among them, bost Library is the largest of nine libraries in NYU and one of the largest public libraries in the United States. Just across the street from the south side of Washington Square Park, you only need to provide a student ID card to enter. The public transportation in new york is very developed, it is convenient to live on campus, and renting a house by subway is not very troublesome. Of course, if you rent a house, you must spend some time choosing the best place.
The accommodation fees for undergraduates, master students and doctoral students are different, but the overall situation is that living on campus is more expensive than renting a house. The closer the school is, the more expensive it is. After all, the school is in a good location. If you want to be more convenient, buy a smart phone (domestic frequency band is ok, but pay attention to support the communication frequency of American operators, you can search online) and go to AT & amp； T or other operators make a prepaid card and buy a traffic packet (at & amp； T's prepaid card is 25 per month, 1GB), using Google Maps.
3. Daily shopping and food and clothes
Among the leasing strategies provided by NYU·CSSA, there are several convenient places. For example, Amherst is one of the famous Chinese communities in new york. It takes about 40-50 minutes to go to school. There are several large Chinese supermarkets there, and there is no problem in daily shopping.
Don't worry too much about buying clothes. There are some good shops near the school. If there are some large supermarket chains like Target near the place where you stay, there are also all kinds of clothes for sale. As long as it is not a very high-end brand name, it will not be more expensive than domestic ones, and the quality is also very good. Even famous brands are cheaper than domestic prices. Newport is close to Target, and there is a physical store next to Best Buy, so it is convenient to buy electronic products.
Food depends on the place. If you eat out, if it is a Chinese community, there is no problem; If not, the taste will be different, even a lot of unheard-of food, it is more troublesome to tell you the name if you don't know what it is. If you cook it yourself, just go to the supermarket to buy delicious food, and don't worry about the taste. However, it should be reminded that it takes time to do it yourself. If there is not enough time, it is suggested to consider the possibility of eating out.
Here are two specific suggestions:
(1) You don't have to worry about eating any preferred location provided in NYU CSSA's leasing strategy.
(2) What about eating out (such as at school)? If you are not worried about the price, you will want to eat better. The price is $ 10-20. If a waiter serves you (not fast food), remember to tip the waiter 15%-20% after dinner. Cheap ones can go to the dining area on the first floor of Bobst Library, the largest library in the school. You can go to the mobile kiosk (Muslim cart) in the school street to buy fast food, and the price is more affordable. For example, a box of chicken rice and a can of drinks costs 5 dollars, and then you can eat it at any public table. There are many such places.
