I read the original novel on a night trip a long time ago. When I finished reading the novel with extreme depression, I saw the "love" between Liang Si and Xue Sui. I really thought there was love between them at that time. Two children with different lives but the same tragic childhood have been living together for many years. One wears a mask to live in the sun, and the other always guards in the dark.
If the original let me see the "love" between them, what I see from Japanese films is the cold and terrible snow ear and the distressing bright part.
The story begins with a puzzling murder many years ago. A pawnbroker was killed in an abandoned damp and cold building. At that time, a young woman named Xi Dai Wen became the biggest suspect. She had close contact with the victim before her death. When the police tried to investigate the woman suspected to be the victim's mistress, Xi Dai Wen was found "committing suicide" in his home, leaving his daughter Xue Sui alone. The case was once again deadlocked, and the then police leader hastily closed the case for promotion. Only one policeman tried to investigate for more than ten years, and finally the truth came out.
On the other hand, the victim's wife and the pawnbroker have long been at odds and have a proper relationship. The pawnbroker has a son named Kirihara Ryouji. He is eccentric, mysterious and calm. Beneath his appearance, there are a pair of eyes as sharp as a wolf and a pair of grippers as sharp as an eagle, which makes people uncomfortable all over, like a sword hidden in the dark.
These two seemingly unrelated children are closely linked because of this murder case, which subverts the whole life.
After the incident, Xuesui was adopted by Tang Zelizi, an elegant woman who is good at tea ceremony and flower arrangement. Lizi is just a relative of Xiben's husband's family. Seeing that Xue Sui was pitiful, she adopted her. Xuesui is smart and lovely, and deeply loved by her. With the status of adopted daughter, Xuesui changed from a dirty sparrow to a phoenix, and became a beautiful woman who attracted much attention everywhere, while Liangsi left home and began an unknown life.
However, it is such a beautiful and elegant person who can conquer all men's snow ears, but only 10% of Shinohara's famous families have not conquered it. Ten percent took a fancy to Jiang, the most humble good friend around Xuesui, and Jiang began to show his unique beauty when he met love. However, Jiang's suddenly disappeared and lost contact with 10%. Snow ear replaced Jiang's position at this moment, and finally married ten percent.
After marriage, Xuesui became more and more successful in her career, but her life became more and more depressed, wasting time at home all day.
On the other side of the city, there is such a Kirihara Ryouji who lives in the dark and kills people without blinking an eye. Whether it's an employee who used to work in his own shop, a private detective who sent ten percent to investigate Xuesui, or a young man who lived with him for many years and finally died for him, these people's lives are nothing but dirt in his eyes.
However, all this is just to protect Xue Sui, who has known him since childhood.
It turns out that Kirihara Ryouji and Nishimoto have known each other since childhood. In that modest library, they started a sneaky affair, which was the most innocent love between boys and girls. Until one day, Liangsi found out that his father, who was a pedophile, took Xuesui to a dilapidated building. Until that day, he climbed to the locked building along the vent and saw the ugly scene of his father, until his mind recalled that his mother had slept with another man.
He killed his father.
He chose to live in the dark and protect a little girl's secret.
Even if he has to live in darkness all his life.
He sent the snow ear to the light, but his life stayed in that dark ventilation duct forever.
What moved me to tears at the end of the film was what the police finally said to Ryoji. Although his lines are pale, he really regards Ryoji as his own child and really wants to save him. Liangzhi chose to die when the secret was exposed. He still said "I did it all" at the last moment, but he never named Xueshui.
What is even more distressing is that the police are holding a dialogue between Liang Si and Xue Sui in a pool of blood.
Do you know who this man is?
"I don't know."
Then he turned and walked into the store to continue planning his new store, leaving only a white shadow. ...
Seeing this, I find it hard to believe that there is love in Xuesui's heart. A person with love in his heart will never be so indifferent. The tragic experience of childhood can't be a reason to hurt others. Even if I was haunted by demons when I was a child, I was forced by my mother to accept guests when I was very young. Since then, I have been psychologically distorted and extremely calm since I was a child. Because of her tragic experience, she has hurt people around her many times.
A mother who lives alone, a girl from the same school, Jiang who claims to be a good friend, her husband's sister, and a series of people who threaten her.
And Ryoji is the one who cleared these threats for her and paved the way for her.
And she only cried sadly behind him once: Liang Xiao. ...
It can be said that the snow ear destroyed Liangsi. She could live in the sun with a mask and live a glamorous life, while Liangsi stayed in the dark ventilation duct during the murder and never climbed out.
The film doesn't agree with the original in many plots, but in just two hours, the plot is highly restored, which gives me a new understanding of the story. From last night to now, I still can't be calm for a long time, and my greatest feeling is my love for Liangsi.
One sentence in the novel that touched me very much was that Ryoji told a friend,
My life is like walking in a white night.
I think his heart should be full of bitterness and helplessness. He is willing to live in the dark for the people he wants to protect.
Love and desire are often the most easily magnified things. Snow ear's desire is so strong that it has been expanding and gradually drowning love. Liangsi's love is flickering, but it always douses the flame of desire at the critical moment.
Perhaps it is because of this subtle relationship that they will be bound for life.
In the novel, Xue Sui once said at the end:
I can't predict whether Xuesui's life will be the same after losing Liangsi Guardian. The only thing that is clear is that in their world, there will never be another encounter and there will never be an ending.
