Ankang College, formerly known as Ankang College, was founded in 1959. Closed on 1963 due to national economic difficulties. 1978 Ankang Professional Course of Shaanxi Normal University was re-established, 1984 was renamed Ankang Normal University with the approval of Shaanxi Provincial People's Government. In February 2006, 14 was approved by the Ministry of Education and transformed into Ankang College.
