The main building of the new building has five floors. The building is equipped with modern equipment such as central air conditioning, automatic fire fighting and building monitoring, and consists of four departments: editing department, lending department, comprehensive department and technical department.
The whole library has 1684 reading seats and 1000 reserved seats. By September 2006, there were 675,000 Chinese and foreign paper books, 8,000 newspapers, nearly 1 100 Chinese periodicals, nearly 100 newspapers and 784,000 electronic documents. The library accepts both arts and sciences, mainly professional and practical books and teaching reference books, and adopts full-open shelf service, with an opening time of 83 hours per week. Our library has also made great efforts to build a digital library and adopted Jiangsu Huiwen document information service system to realize the automatic and integrated management of book acquisition, cataloging, circulation, collection and document retrieval. An electronic reading room with 720 electronic reading seats has been established, which provides readers with access to library resources, campus network resources and Internet resources, and creates a good information service environment for readers. Our library has also achieved inter-library cooperation with the library of Shandong University Weihai Branch and the library of Harbin Institute of Technology (Weihai) to facilitate resource sharing.
