Personally, I think this format is the best format for e-books. No matter what kind of hardware you use to read e-books, this format of e-books is the easiest to convert. The ultimate goal of my conversion is to convert all kinds of e-books into TXT text files. Of course, many people may like web pages in order to have a directory format, which depends on personal habits.
2.HTML
This format is the most widely read format on the Internet. Hyperlink mode makes each chapter of the book look very comfortable. Just read the chapters, go to the table of contents. You can open it directly with IE on PPC. I guess PPC users should not hate this format. However, in front of PALM users, no software has supported this format perfectly for so many years. PALM users can only convert in various ways, or directly convert to TXT like me. Recently, I tried Webpro and found that this software can open HTML files, and the graphic connections inside can be used to do anything. But this software was too big and slow for PALM, so I finally deleted it.
3.EXE
It is also a common e-book format. Generally, e-books are made in this inconvenient editing format for copyright, but in many e-book websites, you can only find this format. This kind of e-book can be read directly on the PC, but you can't do anything on the handheld device. I seem to have heard that there is software on PPC that can directly read EXE and CHM, and I hope there is a clear expert to explain it. )
4.CHM
It seems that the HTML help file format is suitable for e-books by accident one day, but it is as annoying as EXE files and inconvenient to edit, so it can also be seen in many e-book websites. This format can also be read directly on the PC.
5.PDF
ADOBE's ADOBE ACROBAT READER uses a special format. Because of its strong security, non-editable content, and most formats can be easily converted into PDF, it has become the preferred format for officials to publish documents on the Internet. More common are some manuals. At one time, many computer learning books on the Internet were in PDF file format. This format has a good effect of mixed layout of pictures and texts. Reading a book in a reader is just like reading a book, but it is quite difficult to perfectly convert pictures and words into other formats, and no better tools have been seen. English books in its format can be read after being converted by special software on PALM, but Chinese books are not supported at present. The biggest drawback of PDF documents is that they are very large. A book in TXT format may be only a few hundred K. If it becomes this format, it will be one trillion.
6. Department of Communications
Microsoft WORD's proprietary format, of course, is to be opened in WORD, and compatible WPS and OPEN OFFICE should also be able to be opened, but there may be some differences in typesetting or fonts. DOC can be easily converted into HTML and TXT. At most, some information in the format is lost, so it is more open.
7.PDB/PRC
These two formats are unique to PDA. At first, they were mainly used by PALM. Later, PPC also supported e-books in this format through related software.
8.CLF
There are not many questions about this format, but some people still ask. Let me briefly talk about it here. This is the proprietary format of software LISTPRO. Since this software is available on PALM, PPC and PC, you can read it by installing this software on your own machine. As for the conversion of this format, it should be possible, but I am not familiar with it and will improve it in the future.
9. Others
Some special formats, such as e-books of Superstar Electronic Library, e-books of Founder Reader, XREADER, etc. At present, it can only be used by the provided special readers and cannot be converted into other convenient editing formats.
