In addition to the traditional reading and consulting services, in recent years, the government has invested 9 million yuan to establish the information system of Chengdu Library and the grass-roots center of cultural information resources, and set up a multimedia electronic reading room, which has greatly enriched the contents and forms of reader services. Chengdu Library was awarded the title of "Civilized Library" by the Sichuan Provincial Department of Culture, and it is also a first-class library in Sichuan Province. It is also one of the libraries that have made achievements in the construction of socialist spiritual civilization commended by the Ministry of Culture. In 2004, it was awarded the title of "National Secondary Library" by the Ministry of Culture.

The library has first-class hardware facilities and a good environment. It has opened more than 20 service windows, including Chinese book lending room, Chinese periodical lending room, Chinese book reading room, periodical reading room, newspaper reading room, ancient books consulting room, research reading room, electronic reading room, foreign language reading room, local literature reading room, social science reading room and natural science reading room. The academic lecture hall in the museum has 280 seats, with advanced simultaneous interpretation system, conference system and multimedia transmission system, and can hold various types of academic lectures. The exhibition hall can hold various exhibitions.

In the design of the new library, the difficulties of disabled readers are fully considered. The lobby is designed with barrier-free access, and the reading room is built with toilets for disabled readers, which has a high degree of humanistic care.

The Press and Information Department collects more than 4,000 kinds of general Chinese periodicals, and Hong Kong and Taiwan publish Chinese periodicals 19 kinds. General Chinese newspaper 198, 2 foreign newspapers and 3 Hong Kong and Taiwan newspapers. The first batch of foreign language reading rooms opened nearly 10,000 volumes of more than 8,000 foreign language books, mainly in English, and a few books in French, German, Spanish and other languages. This room has a collection of books on cutting-edge disciplines such as Encyclopedia Britannica, international economy and management, and a large number of original books on economics and popular science, which can meet the needs of readers at different levels. In 2005, our library fully opened foreign language books for borrowing, which was the first time in our 92-year history. This means that Chengdu Library will repay the society with a more open attitude and in-depth service.

German information and German self-study center is located in the foreign language lending room on the fifth floor. The center was founded by our library in cooperation with Goethe Institute in Germany (/LP/zhindex.htm). All books and audio-visual materials in the center are provided by the Goethe Institute in Germany, where there are more than 2,000 original German exquisite books and 1300 original audio-visual materials. You can consult German learning materials, exercises, exams and other related materials, as well as the original German and English books introducing German politics, economy and culture, which will provide you with a lot of information. You can also use the audio-visual equipment in this reading room, such as audio tapes, video tapes, CDs, German learning software, etc., and you can also provide readers with promotional materials about Goethe Institute for their reference.

The reader's work department is an important window of our library's external service, which is responsible for the circulation services such as borrowing and lending of the documents in its collection; Responsible for the promotion and recommendation of documents; Collect readers' opinions on library literature procurement and service methods and send them to relevant departments; Carry out popular book promotion activities and reader activities; Responsible for the establishment and management of branch libraries outside the library. Its services include: borrowing Chinese books, reading children's books, reading Chinese books, borrowing audio-visual materials and consulting services in the lobby on the first floor. The above services are all open-shelf services.

The ancient books reference room and the Republic of China book reference room are both located on the 10 floor. There are 8995 kinds of ancient books in our library, 7299 1 volume. After several years of comprehensive arrangement, the books of the Republic of China in our library will be opened to readers in the near future.
