The school is located in Qingyang City, Gansu Province. It is a provincial general undergraduate college jointly established by Gansu Provincial People's Government and Qingyang City. The school's predecessor was 1978 Qingyang Teachers College approved by the State Council. 200 1 Qingyang agricultural institute and Qingyang agricultural school merged as a whole.
