With the rapid development of Zhengzhou's economy and society and the increasing comprehensive strength, in order to further meet the development of public cultural undertakings and the needs of public spiritual and cultural life, in 2008, Zhengzhou Library (Citizen Cultural Center), a new large-scale modern comprehensive cultural venue with the library as the main body, integrating literature collection, retrieval and consultation, academic exchange, cultural creativity, education and training, and leisure and entertainment, was formally established. The new Zhengzhou Library (Civic Cultural Center) is located in Zhengdong New District of Zhengzhou City, covering an area of 76.3 mu, with a total construction area of 72,450 square meters and a planned total collection of 2.4 million books (pieces). The project started in June 2009 and was completed on 20 12. On August 8, 20 13, the new Zhengzhou Library began trial operation.
