What are the general provisions about fire protection facilities in Code for Fire Protection Design of Buildings (GB 500 16—2006)?
Article 8. 1. 1 When planning and architectural design of towns, residential areas, enterprises and institutions, the fire water supply system must be designed at the same time. Fire water can be supplied by water supply pipe network, natural water source or fire pool. When using natural water sources, the reliability of fire water at the lowest water level in dry season should be ensured, and reliable water intake facilities should be set up.

Note: There are no more than 500 people in a Class E factory building or residential area with a fire resistance rating of not less than Grade II and a volume of not more than 3000m3. The residential area with a building of not more than two floors does not need fire water supply.

Article 8. 1.2 Fire water supply shall be merged with production and domestic water supply pipeline system. If the merger is not economical or technically feasible, an independent fire water supply pipeline system can be adopted.

Independent fire water supply pipes should be used for indoor fire water supply in high-rise industrial buildings.

Article 8. 1.3 Outdoor fire water supply can adopt high-pressure or temporary high-pressure water supply system or low-pressure water supply system. If high-pressure or temporary high-pressure water supply system is adopted, the pipeline pressure shall ensure that the total water consumption reaches the maximum and the water gun is at the top of any building, and the full water column of the water gun is still not less than10m; ; If a low-pressure water supply system is adopted, the pipeline pressure shall ensure that the water pressure of the fire hydrant at the most unfavorable point is not less than 10m water column (calculated from the ground).

Note: ① When calculating the water pressure, water guns with nozzle diameter of 19mm and hemp hoses with diameter of 65mm and length of 120m should be used, and the calculated flow of each water gun should not be less than 5 l/s..

② The pressure of high-pressure or temporary high-pressure water supply system of high-rise industrial buildings should meet the requirements of water pressure of fire fighting equipment at the most unfavorable point indoors.

(3) The design flow rate of fire hydrant water supply pipeline should not exceed 2.5m/s.
