/products/digitaleditions/help/library view and reading view applications will be launched, and you will see the library view or reading view. Library view provides a way to view and organize project collections. Reading view allows you to read, navigate, print, tag and search documents. Adobe Digital Editions always remembers the last time you viewed a specific project and what you did when you quit the program. When you first enter the application, if you are downloading an item, it will automatically enter the reading view; But if you just start it, it will enter the library view. Both views contain three areas: the toolbar at the top, the main workspace, and the collapsible pane on the left. Drag or double-click the small gray bar on the divider bar with a small gray triangle to close the left pane. Double-click the separator bar again or drag it to reopen the left pane. In the Library view, the items in the currently selected bookshelf occupy the main area. The left pane always contains the bookshelf itself. Reading view contains a main document area, a toolbar at the top and a tab pane on the left. The tab pane can display the table of contents (if the project contains a table of contents) or bookmarks (if they exist). Click the icons at the top of the left pane and below the toolbar to switch the left pane between them. To move between reading view and library view, click the library or reading icon in the upper left corner of the toolbar (or use the corresponding shortcut key). Add items to the library In the library view, you can add items to the library. You can add items in several ways: use the menu option Add Item (or the corresponding shortcut key). Drag and drop files from the desktop or file browser. Download projects from the Internet (e-commerce website supporting Adobe Digital Editions or one of many public libraries). When you add items, they will be added to your common library. After that, you can arrange them according to your preference (see About Bookshelves). There is no limit to the number or type of items in the library. Select a project and select "Project Information" (find a small triangle) from its context menu to get all its related information. Project Information contains more metadata about the project, rights (number of copies or pages to be printed, etc.). ) and the actual location of the project in the computer. Note: If you add items by double-clicking items on your computer or downloading them directly from the Internet (instead of through an e-commerce website or library), these items will not be added to your library. You can view them, but they don't belong to your permanent library. Only items added by one of the above three methods will be added to your permanent library. Buying goods online includes two parts: paying for the e-commerce part of the goods, and then downloading the goods to your computer. Once you pay for one or more items and request to download them, Adobe Digital Editions will talk to the server on the e-book website, during which the e-book server will send the items to Adobe Digital Editions. You will see a dialog box that quickly shows "Downloading" (usually). Then, the second dialog box will display "Authorized Content", during which Adobe Digital Editions will be able to read the project just downloaded. The project will open immediately. Borrowing library projects You can borrow projects from many public libraries and use them in Adobe Digital Editions. The downloading process is very similar to online shopping, except that you don't have to pay. When an item enters your library, a "banner" will be displayed to indicate the remaining time before the item expires. The item will remain in your database after expiration, but you can't read it. You need to delete it before you can remove it from the library. If you have finished reading some projects, you can also return them in advance. Sometimes it is worthwhile to do so, because the library has a limit on the number of items that can be borrowed at the same time. Click on the item information menu and select Return in advance. After the items sorted by the database enter the database, you can view the contents of the bookshelf in two ways. You can view the thumbnail of the project. Thumbnail is the cover of the project (the first page if the project has no cover). In this view, you can see the thumbnail of each project and a collection of related information (author, title). You can also sort the display order of items by author, title, creation date, number of pages, etc. If you want to view more items at the same time or sort them more conveniently, you can switch to list item mode. This mode displays the items in a given bookshelf in a tabular view. Click any column heading (such as author or page number) to sort the list. About Bookshelves Bookshelves provide a view of your library. Different bookshelves show different parts of all the books in the library. The application has two kinds of bookshelves: smart bookshelves and user-defined bookshelves. There are four types of smart bookshelves, which are defined by this application: All-show every item borrowed from the library-show all items borrowed from another library in your library-show all the items purchased and owned by your library recently-show the items read in the past 30 days. You can't influence or change the contents or conditions of the Smart Bookshelf (except adding items to or removing items from the library). User-defined bookshelves are bookshelves that you create and control. Creating them is simple. Just click the+button at the bottom of the left pane, or select Add Bookshelf from the options menu or the bottom of the left pane. Bookshelves can be named at will, but they should be interesting and not too long. To fill a bookshelf, you can drag and drop items from any other bookshelf (including other user-defined bookshelves) onto your new bookshelf. Please note that this will not move them from one bookshelf to another; Copy them to the new bookshelf. There is no limit to the number of items in the user-defined bookshelf. To remove an item from the bookshelf, select the item (highlighted with a gray background) and press the Delete key. You can also use the item menu. When you select an item, you can enter it by selecting the small gray triangle in the upper left corner of the item. Note: Some online bookstores sell goods that are not protected by DRM. This situation is rare, but it may become more and more common. At present, such items will not be displayed in the "buy" bookshelf. Transfer items between computers If a computer is authorized, Adobe Digital Editions will not "lock" your e-books and other digital publications to the computer, but will assign them to you through your Adobe ID. This means that you can transfer library items to up to six computers or supported mobile devices (such as Sony? 0? 3 readers). You must authorize two computers with your Adobe ID before you can transfer items between them. Note: Bookmarks are not copied when transferring items to another computer. To transfer a library item to another authorized computer, do the following: On the source computer, locate and open the My Digital Version folder, which is located in the My Documents folder. Select the EPUB or PDF file corresponding to the title of the e-book to be transferred. Copy the selected file to portable media, such as a flash drive, or send the file to the target computer by e-mail. On the target computer, copy the EPUB or PDF file to the My Documents \ My Digital Editions folder. Open Adobe Digital Editions on the target computer. Select "Library >; Add a project, then navigate to the My Digital Version folder and select a new file to add to the library. Transfer items to Sony? 0? 3 Reader Adobe Digital Editions allows you to transfer projects from the library to Sony? 0? 3 readers. To make PRS-505 compatible with Adobe Digital Editions, and you have the original PRS-505, you must first download it from Sony? 0? 3 Reader PRS-505 product website * Download the firmware update program and the new Sony e-book library, and install them on the PRS-505 model. Note: In addition to updating the firmware of PRS-505, Sony ebook library must be installed, because it will install the necessary drivers. After installing the driver and updating PRS-505, you can continue with the following steps. Will Sony? 0? The reader connects to the computer and starts the digital version. Will the digital version automatically detect Sony? 0? Whether or not 3 Reader exists needs to be authorized with your Adobe ID. If you haven't authorized Digital Editions for your computer, you need to do this first (Digital Editions will guide you through this process: see the topic of activation and authorization). For the digital version and Sony? 0? 3 Reader can only communicate with Sony after authorization? 0? The reader transmits the protected content. Unprotected content can be transferred between devices without authorizing the device or the digital version, but Adobe strongly recommends authorizing the digital version, because it can be in the digital version or Sony? 0? Realize the content transplantation of protected books on 3 Reader. Authorized, Sony? 0? 3 Reader appears in the library as a new bookshelf. You can talk to Sony like other bookshelves in the library. 0? 3 reader bookshelf transfers items. You can read Sony? 0? 3 Readers or books on your own computer (and mark them). You can even go to a friend's Sony? 0? Read books on 3 Reader (but you can't take friends' Sony books? 0? 3 reader to your own computer, and vice versa). Important: When transferring database items by computer, do not transfer Sony? 0? 3 The reader is disconnected. Note: The text in the e-book is marked by Sony? 0? Displayed as a bookmark in 3 Reader. If you need Sony? 0? For related support of 3 Reader, please visit Sony? 0? 3 Support site: PRS 505 type *

PRS 700 * Deleting items from the library Deleting items from the bookshelf is different from deleting items from the bookshelf. Deleting an item in a user-defined bookshelf or smart bookshelf will completely delete the item from your library. This operation cannot be undone, so please make sure that you want to delete the item instead of simply removing it. You will be prompted to confirm whether you want to delete the item from the library. Note: Deleting an item from the library will not delete the corresponding file from your computer. But what about Sony? 0? Deleting an item from 3 Reader's database will delete the corresponding file from the device. To remove an item from a user-defined bookshelf without deleting it from the library, select Remove Item from Bookshelf from the context menu of the item. Navigating a PDF document When you open a PDF document in reading view, you can see a toolbar with multiple elements: a page number/page number control that allows you to enter the page number you want to go to; Printer icon (if printing items is not allowed, the icon may be disabled, and so on. ); Bookmark icons represent a series of icons (* * * four) in the page display mode, in which you can enter the text to be searched in the document; You can navigate in four page display modes: Fit. You can use the menu item (click the word "read" on the left side of the toolbar), the scroll bar button, or the Page Up and Page Down keys to move between pages. You cannot smoothly zoom (except for enlarged windows) or scroll pages. Fit on a single page-This will scale the page so that the entire page fills the viewing area. You can use menu items, buttons or shortcut keys to read the document page by page, just like in two-page mode. Fit Width-This will scale the page to fill the width of the entire viewing area, but you may not be able to view the page height. In this mode, you can turn pages as in the previous mode. You can also use the scroll bar buttons at the top and bottom of the scroll bar to scroll freely. Note that when using the Page Turn keys (such as the Page Up and Page Down keys), the view will be reduced according to the currently visible page size. Custom Fit-In this mode, the page is scaled according to the level you choose. You can see two page views: the whole page is displayed as a thumbnail in a floating widget, and a bright rectangle is displayed in the main document area, which represents the zoomed part of the page. The zoomed part will fill the main document area. You can change the zoom level by adjusting the small scroll bar on the left side of the widget. This mode also allows you to page up and down according to the page size visible in the main document view. You can also scroll freely. You can also use the table of contents (if the document contains a table of contents) to browse the document. Navigation EPUB documents EPUB documents are different from PDF documents in that they are composed of rearrangable content with fixed format, such as content on the Web. The toolbar in reading view has no different view modes, but contains two "A" icons, which can be used to change the font size used to display items. The toolbar contains the same page number/number field, printer icon and bookmark icon as when viewing a PDF document. Enter the page number in the field and press Enter to go to the page. You can also use the common page controls (menus, scroll bars, shortcut keys) or the table of contents (if the document contains a table of contents) to navigate an EPUB document. Finding text Finding text in a document (PDF or EPUB) is simple. Just click the find control on the toolbar, Enter the word or phrase you want to find, and then press Enter. The application will find the first (or next) instance of a word in the current document, go to the corresponding page and highlight the corresponding word or phrase. Then, click the small arrow to the right of the search control to find the same word again. To find in reverse, click the left arrow. If the application reaches the end of the document but does not find the corresponding word or phrase, it will display a small red column to tell you that it has reached the end of the document. Bookmarks You can bookmark a PDF or EPUB document for quick browsing. When you select the Bookmarks tab, bookmarks are displayed in the left pane of reading view. To bookmark: navigate to the page you want to bookmark. (Optional) Select some text on this page. Click the bookmark icon in the toolbar, or click the plus (+) icon next to the Options menu at the bottom of the Bookmarks panel. (Optional) Enter text in the Comments area of the Bookmarks dialog box. The excerpt section of the dialog box displays the selected text in the document, if it is selected. Click "OK". Bookmark links are added to the left pane. The yellow rectangle icon to the left of the link indicates that the bookmark contains comments, and the pink icon indicates that the bookmark does not contain comments. If you select text before creating a bookmark, the first line of the text will be displayed in the bookmark link. If a comment is added, the link also displays the first line of the comment (highlighted in yellow). In the document, bookmarks with comments will highlight the label text in yellow, and bookmarks without comments will highlight in pink. All bookmarks you create will be stored with the project and will be opened the next time you open the project. To edit a bookmark, double-click it and the dialog box will open again. Then, you can make any changes as needed, including adding or deleting text in the comment area. To Delete a bookmark, select the bookmark link in the Bookmarks pane, press the Delete key, and then select Delete Bookmark from the Options menu or use the corresponding shortcut key. Note: The bookmark you added is an Adobe Digital Editions bookmark; They are not PDF bookmarks (in Acrobat or Reader, they are added to your bookmarks and used as directories in Adobe Digital Editions). Printing Adobe Digital Editions supports printing (unless the document itself does not allow it). But vector printing is not supported-the page is actually printed as a bitmap, so the quality is not as bright as vector printing. In addition, for documents containing SWF movie clips, only the initial frame of the movie can be printed, which does not reflect any interactive changes you made to the movie clips in Adobe Digital Editions. When the diagnostic information encounters a problem, the application will try its best to tell you the possible source of the problem so that you can solve the problem. There are usually three types of problems: downloading, document corruption and incorrect document format. When downloading a project from the Web, you may encounter various problems, such as the server is not responding or the application cannot be verified correctly. Adobe Digital Editions usually displays a dialog box that provides some information about the problem. The most common message is "I/O error", which means that the application cannot connect to the server that should get the project or verification information. In most cases, this is a temporary problem, and the simplest solution is to try again. You may also encounter cases where items added to the library are intentionally or unintentionally damaged or deleted. In this case, the application will display a dialog box to inform you that the project has been lost or damaged. The book then appeared in your library, but there was a "banner" (a ribbon in the upper left corner of the project) indicating "lost". You can try to restore the project to its previous location, or delete it and try to add a good copy of the project to the library. The last category is when there are minor errors or warnings in the document. In this case, the above problems may occur because the PDF file uses functions that Adobe Digital Editions does not support, such as JPEG 2000 compression, or the EPUB document uses inappropriate tags. In most cases, these small warnings or errors will not cause any major problems, but the document may not achieve exactly the same rendering effect as the author expected. There are many known electronic books. Printing large documents may be relatively slow. Adobe Digital Editions does not support PDF named pages. For example, the first 10 pages of a document are Roman numerals, and the rest pages are Arabic numerals. All pages are absolutely quoted from 1. If you have explicitly associated Acrobat or Reader with the ETD file type (through the Tools/Options menu item, the Content tab and the Manage ... File button), you must explicitly delete the association. In "Fit to Width" or "Customize Fit to Page" display mode, searching for a string or browsing bookmarks/comments in a PDF document may not display the correct part of the page correctly. JPEG 2000 images are not supported. If you use Kaspersky firewall protection, you may encounter download problems. This is because Kaspersky regards Adobe Digital Editions as malware and blocks it (using Windows? 0? Firewalls also encounter this situation, but rarely). Usually, when you start a newly installed application (such as Adobe Digital Editions), Kaspersky will ask you if it is a trusted application or process, but it will not ask Adobe Digital Editions. You must tell Kaspersky to manually add Adobe Digital Editions as a trusted application. The rule you need to set for Adobe Digital Editions is "Do not scan network traffic". On a Mac, the text input cursor (I-cursor) does not appear in the comment text field of the Edit Bookmark dialog box. The next version will solve this defect. Users occasionally see "session ID" errors when verifying newly downloaded books. This is a known server-side problem, and the Adobe Digital Editions team is working hard to solve this problem. The remedy is to retry the download. In two-page display mode, you cannot choose between two pages. The remedy is to enter Fit mode, scroll smoothly to find the text visible on two pages, and then select it. Select all (Ctrl+A or Cmd+A) is not supported. Large images (more than 50MB) may cause the application to be unresponsive. Adobe Digital Editions does not support some advanced transparent rendering functions, such as hollowing out, overprinting and indivisible blending mode. Adobe Digital Editions does not support native PDF annotations.
