How should college students use the school library?
If books are an ocean of knowledge, then the library is a paradise of knowledge. So as a college student, how should we make good use of the library of a good school? Teacher Bi will talk to you as an experienced person.

1, familiar with the library

Generally speaking, after the university starts, the university library will have activities to help freshmen understand the library. For example, opening a freshman counseling column in the library official website, or holding freshman field activities in the library. There are many ways to pay attention to library dynamics, such as WeChat, Weibo and official website. The most direct way is the library official website.

Familiarity with the library requires understanding the library's collection resources, including paper resources and electronic resources. Paper resources are mainly books, as well as periodicals and newspapers. The most practical electronic resources are databases and various softwares for scientific research. We need to know which databases our school library has purchased.

Secondly, understand the structure of the library building. For example, where are the stacks, reading rooms, information commons and study rooms? Finally, learn about library services, such as reference services, subject services, library training and other activities. All these can be learned from official website in the library.

Step 2 study

Read more books related to your major. Every professional teacher will give us a list of books at the beginning of the new semester. Most of the books in this book list are good for us to study this specialized course.

Cultivate reading interest. To find your favorite books, you don't have to be professionally related, such as literature, history, science and engineering, or even photography, finance and computer. You can watch whatever you like anyway. Books in university libraries can be really beneficial as long as they are opened.

Read books in a planned way. After entering the university, you must make your own study plan. What kind of books do you plan to read and borrow every semester? There are many books in the library, so we can read them selectively.

3. Mobile library

In some schools, the mobile library integrates the Chinese resources of the library, and readers can use various mobile devices, such as smart phones and tablet computers, to realize one-stop resource retrieval and full-text reading and downloading. At the same time, some have also realized the functions of inquiring, booking and renewing bibliographic information and personal borrowing information.

This greatly facilitates students to use library resources outside the library, so don't forget the school library during the winter and summer vacations.

4. Library self-study

Self-study in the library should be a habit that every college student should develop. You can review the final exam, CET-4 and CET-6, postgraduate entrance examination, civil service exam and so on. Anyway, the library is the best place for self-study.

However, self-study in the library must abide by the discipline of the library. Talking loudly, answering the phone, eating and occupying a seat at will are all annoying behaviors. I believe that as college students, everyone still has this quality.

5. Library training

As we all know, it is far from enough for a person to learn knowledge only at school in the face of the challenges of the new century, to adapt to the rapid development of science and technology, to adapt to the requirements of career changes and to accelerate the frequency of knowledge updating. Everyone needs lifelong learning, and lifelong learning ability has become a basic quality that a person must have. Therefore, the training function is basically added to the university libraries now. For example, in the school before Mr. Bi, lectures, academic reports and other trainings are held regularly every week.

So when I am at school, I should listen to more lectures and go to the library to attend training classes. In the future development, whether our study is competitive, whether we have great potential and whether we have the ability to master the knowledge of the information age depends fundamentally on whether we have the ability of lifelong learning. Therefore, students must pay attention to their own training and learning after leaving campus to meet the challenges of the times.

Finally, Mr. Bi wants to say that library resources play an important role in students' learning. I hope that students will seize the learning opportunities in universities, make full use of libraries, strive to improve their cultural knowledge and be good successors of socialism.
