Lanzhou University of Technology has 19 colleges, 1 teaching and research sections, a graduate school and a Wenzhou graduate school. There are 29,975 full-time students, including 22,632 undergraduates, 6,398 postgraduates and 448 international students. At present, there are two campuses, Langongping Campus and Pengjiaping Campus, covering an area of 2,430 mu, with a building area of 1.2 1.000 square meters, a library with 21.6 million books, e-books 1.22 million books, a laboratory area of more than 50,000 square meters, and the asset value of teaching and scientific research instruments and equipment.

The historical origin of Lanzhou Jiaotong University School can be traced back to 1896 and 1909. 1958 In May, the headquarters of Tangshan Railway Institute (now Southwest Jiaotong University) and Beijing Railway Institute (now Beijing Jiaotong University) were established and moved to Lanzhou. 1June 1959 was designated as a key institution of higher learning by the Ministry of Railways, and 196 1 April 1998 was listed as a key institution of higher learning by the Ministry of Railways. In 2000, the system of "co-construction of the central and local governments, with local government management as the mainstay" was implemented. In 2003, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Lanzhou Railway Institute was renamed Lanzhou Jiaotong University.
