The history of aspiring academies
Lizhi Academy, located on the east side of Mao Dun's former residence, is now Mao Dun Memorial Hall, originally founded by Yi Shen Yan Chen in Tongzhi four years (1865).

Its predecessor was Fenshui Academy, which is famous for its Jia Zhen and lakes. Its campus is located on the west side of the North Gate Fenshui Wharf in Wuzhen. In the tenth year of Xianfeng in Qing Dynasty, the Qing army and Taiping Army fought in Wuzhen, and the Fenshui Academy was destroyed by the war. Five years later, when Yan Chen and others proposed to rebuild Fenshui Academy, the old site of Beizha Academy was really dilapidated and could no longer be used. At that time, there was a house in Guanqian Street that was sealed up by the court by the former Taiping Army military attache. Yan Chen and others took a fancy to this property, and they jointly wrote to the government to request that it be classified as an academy and expanded. Tongzhi seven years, the Academy was completed. Because of the change of address and brand-new building, Yan Chen decided not to use the old name of Fenshui Academy, but chose the word "determined" in the academic aphorism of Mr. Zhang Yangyuan, a philosopher and a national sage, as the name of the new academy. Yan Chen was appointed president of Lizhi College.

Determined to look at the front street in front of the academy, and then go to the back street now, and go straight down to the fifth. Today's academies have basically maintained their original appearance. The word "determination" is embedded in the lintel of the gate, and the column on both sides is the annotation of the hospital name: "Stand up first, where there is a will, there is a way." When you enter the gate and cross the aisle, you will see a small patio with osmanthus trees. Across the patio is a lecture hall with the slogan "Where there is a will, there is a way" inscribed by Yang Changjun, Minister of Zhejiang Province. There is a pair of couplets on each side, which was inscribed by Yu Quyuan, a master of Chinese studies. The cloud said, "Divide water into old scales, and hope everyone will smell it and make up their minds;" Zhong Xiujie, Lushan Mountain, knows that there will be something in the future. " There is a big yard with flowers and plants behind the lecture hall, which is a teaching building; Another topic, Hua Yun Lou (with tweezers), was written by Yan Chen from Shantou. Hua has the meaning of "clamp", and "Huayun" can be interpreted as "taking clouds" and "lingyun", which echoes "determination" and has obvious implications. The third entrance is a bungalow, which is used as a kitchen. Lizhi Academy turned the last bungalow into Zhangyangyuan Temple (built in Tongzhi for nine years), and the students used to be the courtyard of the Academy for a long time.

Beginning in the twenty-fourth year of Guangxu, the imperial court began to reform and reform, and new schools were established in various places, and many old academies were also changed into new schools. In the twenty-eighth year of Guangxu, Lu, then the head of the mountain, followed the trend of the times and changed Lizhi Academy into a school, known as the National Boys' School. But everything else remains the same, so people often call it "determination primary school" Later, it was changed to a school and gave way to the school. Lu is Mao dun's uncle. He is knowledgeable and well-informed, and he is sure to make a difference.

Later, it was used for other purposes many times, first as a new Qing Wu library and then as a kindergarten. After several changes, the original building has changed beyond recognition. It was not until 199 1 that Lizhi Academy, as a part of Mao Dun Memorial Hall, recovered to its present state.
