The call number of a book consists of a classification number and an author number. The classification number is determined according to China Library Classification, and the author number is generated by the author's name. The general rule of shelving is to press the classification number first and then the author number. (1) The arrangement of Chinese book shelving classification numbers adopts the method of bit-by-bit comparison from left to right; If there are letters behind the numbers, they are arranged alphabetically on the basis of the same class number in front; If the recommended symbol "A" is marked at the end of the class number, it ranks first for the class; When there are auxiliary symbols in the commodity, if the symbols in front of them are the same, they will be compared and arranged in the following order: general discussion, complex semicolon-time distinguishing number-general time and place distinguishing number.
