What are the ways to bind picture books?
The main methods are:

(1) riding a horse.

Only two iron wire nails are used to connect the pages, because the iron wire is easy to rust and the fastness is poor. Suitable for ordering less than 6 picture books.

(2) paperback.

Use nails or copper nails to pass through the back of the page, then add butterfly pages to the inner pages and cover them, and then cut them into volumes. Its disadvantage is that it is not easy to see the spliced pictures or tables clearly, and the binding thickness cannot exceed one and a half centimeters, which is not suitable for the binding of advanced books. It has been used less at present.

(3) lateral sequence.

Side loading is to pass the binding line through the book in the direction parallel to the spine. Like some publications, the side binding method is often used. The side binding method is firm, but it cannot be completely flattened. Manual side binding is most commonly used in library or book repair work; When the machine is used for side binding, the needles are connected by thread through drilling holes, and the pages are connected together in the form of square thread locking. Double-thread binding adopts the structure similar to the needle and bobbin of household sewing machine, which is different from sewing machine in that the needle passes through the drilled thread locking hole to connect the pages together.

(4) wireless binding.

Short for "wireless binding" or "binding", because of its good flatness, a large number of books and periodicals use this binding method at present. However, it should be noted that the quality of hot melt adhesive has no corresponding industry standard or national standard, and the use method is not standardized, so the quality of adhesive binding has not yet reached a satisfactory level.

(5) Binding on the back of the locking glue.

Also known as sewing and binding, when binding, each book post is sewn first and then glued, and the back is no longer milled when glued. The books loaded by this binding method are firm and flat, and there are many books using this method at present.

International awards related to picture books:

(1) Cadic Prize

The Cadic Prize, which has a history of more than 60 years, was established in memory of Randolph J. Cardet Cote, a British picture book painter in the 9th century (1846- 1886). The American Library Association invites educators, professionals and librarians to form a review committee every year.

(2) German Picture Book Award

Because the domestic publishing industry mostly takes Britain and America as indicators, the German picture book award is far less well-known in China than the Cadic Award and Kate Greenway Award, but in Europe, the German picture book award is still quite important and authoritative. "German Picture Book Award" refers to the picture book award in "German Youth Literature Award".

(3) International Andersen Painter Award

The "International Andersen Award" is sponsored by the International Youth Reading Committee (IBBY) and nominated by member countries all over the world every two years. Awarded to painters who have made unique and significant contributions to picture books, affirming their lifelong achievements, also known as the "Little Nobel Prize".

(4) Greenway Award

The Cilip kate greenaway Medal was founded by the British Library Association for children's picture books in 1955, mainly to commemorate the creation of Kate Greenway, a great illustrator of children's books in 19 century.
