I. Conditions for running a school
Founded in 195 1, the College is located in Xiangtan City, the hometown of the great Mao Zedong, with an area of181mu. The existing school building area is 392,000 square meters, and the original value of fixed assets is 450 million yuan. The campus is divided into the main campus and the south campus. The conditions for running schools have been greatly improved and the educational environment is good. It is a provincial "garden-style unit" and "civilized institution of higher learning".
At present, there are departments of electrical and information engineering, department of mechanical engineering, textile engineering, economic management, architectural engineering, chemistry and chemical engineering, computer science and technology, mathematics and physics, foreign trade, humanities and social sciences, physical education, adult education and international education. There are 34 undergraduate majors, covering 5 disciplines, forming engineering, engineering, management, literature, science and economics. At present, there are more than 6,300 teaching and research instruments and equipment with a total value of 68,465,438+10,000 yuan. It has 13 experimental center, 20 laboratories, 24 language labs, 44 multimedia classrooms, 1 network information center, metalworking practice base, electrical and electronic practice base and clothing practice base.
Network Information Center is one of the most advanced campus networks in Hunan Province and even the whole country. The metalworking practice base was determined by the Ministry of Education as the examination and training center for metalworking practice teaching instructors in colleges and universities nationwide. At the same time, the College adheres to the road of cooperative education in Industry-University-Research, and has signed cooperation agreements with more than 100 enterprises, initially forming an educational network combining production with learning.
Now it has a library of 39,802 square meters, a collection of books 1, 0 1, 000 volumes (including e-books), more than 2,200 kinds of periodicals and newspapers, and 7 electronic literature databases. There are 2 standard track and field fields, 1 standard swimming pool, more than 20 basketball courts and volleyball courts.
Second, school achievements
The college has a good software and hardware construction, attaches importance to the reform of education and teaching, and has obvious school-running characteristics. There are seven majors that are experimental majors in the teaching reform of higher education in China, among which electrical and mechanical majors are national demonstration majors. Automation major has become a provincial key major, and mechanical basic laboratory has become a provincial basic course demonstration laboratory. The major of mechanical design, manufacturing and automation has been identified as a provincial key construction major. Electronic Technology Foundation was approved as a provincial key construction course.
Actively promote the reform of education and teaching, and actively explore the training mode of applied talents in higher engineering technology, which has promoted the improvement of talent training quality. In the past five years, 15 teaching achievements have won the teaching achievement award at or above the provincial level, and 5 teaching research achievements have won the provincial outstanding achievement award in education and scientific research. Especially, the research results of applied undergraduate education are remarkable.
Automation major and mechanical design, manufacturing and automation major have established their own talent training modes. In the eighth and ninth national "Challenge Cup" extracurricular academic science and technology competition for college students, our college achieved good results continuously, and won the second prize 1 and the third prize. The ideas and research results of engineering application-oriented undergraduate education have been recognized by similar colleges and universities, which has a good radiation effect. We cooperate with the University of Canberra in Australia and Taifu College in South Sydney, and actively learn from foreign talent training experience.
In recent five years, it has obtained 36 provincial and ministerial projects, including 2 projects of the Provincial Planning Commission, 8 projects of the Provincial Natural Science Fund 18, 2 projects of the Provincial Philosophy and Social Science Planning Fund 12, and 4 projects of the Provincial Social Science Association. Obtained 128 municipal and departmental projects, including 6 key projects of provincial education department, 5 youth projects, general projects 100, 4 projects of municipal science and technology bureau, 7 projects of provincial social science association and 5 projects of provincial university working committee.
200 1-2005, the scientific and technological achievements of our college won awards outside the school and won provincial and municipal awards 19. In 2003-2004, 33 achievements passed appraisal or acceptance. From 200 1 to 2004, the faculty of our college published 13 15 scientific research papers and 29 1 teaching research papers, among which 603 core journals, as the first author unit, were searched by three universities 128 papers. The Academic Affairs Office was awarded "Excellent Academic Affairs Office of Hunan Universities" by 1994 and 1999 for two consecutive times, and 1999 was awarded "Excellent Academic Affairs Office of National Universities".
