Historical record of Quanzhou earthquake
1. "(Wanli) in the first month of the thirty-fifth year, Quanzhou earthquake. On August 28th, the hurricane destroyed Yimen, Fu Xue's Star Gate, Dongyue Temple, Shifang and Beimen Tower from northeast to southwest, and Luowopu was completely destroyed. Luoyang Bridge is broken ("Fu Zhi" Volume 73 "Xiangyi").

2. "(Wanli) In the first month of the thirty-fifth year, the earthquake shook the portal. On August 28, the hurricane was violent, and the official instrument gate and the official school gate collapsed. Dongyue Emperor Hall is broken. The North Gate Tower was half built, and the city went from northeast to southwest, and the shacks were completely abandoned. Luoyang bridge is broken. Stone workshops in the city have knocked down six buildings "(county annals, volume 15, magazine).

From the above two paragraphs, it seems that there was only one earthquake in the first month of 1607, and the destruction of other ancient buildings was caused by the hurricane in August, which has nothing to do with the earthquake. However, when we look closely at the inscriptions on existing cultural relics and other documents, we find that the descriptions of these two pieces of information are too brief and incomplete, which is easy to misunderstand. In fact, a strong earthquake occurred in August of 1607, and hurricanes, rainstorms and tides came together. It was mainly the earthquake that caused great losses. To this end, we have to understand the causes and conditions of several buildings as completely as possible. Luoyang Bridge collapsed in the August earthquake of 1607 and was not damaged in the winter earthquake of 1604.

1. "In the autumn earthquake of thirty-five years of Wanli, the bridge skin and big stone beams fell into the sea, and the bridge collapsed four feet in the north and four feet in the south." (Rebuilding Luoyang Bridge in Zhili, Ming Jiang 1609 published stone, now standing in Luoyang Bridge Pavilion).

2. "In the thirty-five years of Wanli, the great earthquake caused the city walls to fall off and fall into disrepair. This bridge is especially important. However, the stone bridge in the north of the bridge collapsed below four feet south, the tide was too low for people to walk, and the deep toes peeled off, leaving only three or four ears "(ibid.).

3. "In the thirty-five years of Wanli, there was a big earthquake and a bridge, and the north was in depression. Magistrate Jiang Zhilixiu (Fu Zhi, Volume 10, Bridge Crossing Luoyang Bridge in Jinjiang County).

4. "In the autumn earthquake in the thirty-fifth year of Wanli, Luoyang Bridge collapsed and the girder fell into the sea, so the address gradually disappeared" (Fu Zhi, Volume 30, Biography of Ming Huan Jiang Zhili).

5. "In the thirty-five years of Wanli, there was a big earthquake, the bridge collapsed and the site was depressed. Magistrate Jiang Zhili made repairs, with Dong of Zhan County in Jinjiang in the south of the bridge and Dong of Hui 'an Li in the north of the bridge (Volume II of County Records regulates the crossing of Luoyang Bridge).

6. "In the thirty-fifth year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty, the bridge was built in the north, and the Yi people were Li and Dong" (Volume 10 of Fu Zhi, the bridge crossed Luoyang Bridge in Hui 'an County).

7. "There will be a major earthquake (1autumn of 607), and the bridge in Luoyang will be broken, so the satrap Jiang Gongtu will repair it. ..... Only one or two bridges in the south are broken, and the railings have decayed ears, which can be repaired. The bridge is far north, and the waterway is moving. The deep ridge of the bank is now flat sand, and the water is overflowing and flowing through the stream. The wind and waves bite it again, the deep toes peel off, the beam collapses four feet south, the tide rises and falls, and people can't do it. " (The Ten-year Edition of Static Pen Collection of Chongzhen in Ming Dynasty, Volume 8, Rebuilding the North of Wan 'an Bridge, collected by Quanzhou Library).

8. "Before the earthquake, the bridge was big, and many people donated to repair it" ("Static Pen Collection", Volume 8, "County Taishou Jianggong Shengsi Tian"). These data show conclusively that Luoyang Bridge was damaged in the autumn epicenter in the thirty-fifth year of Wanli (1607). Jiang Zhili's stone tablet is still there, there is nothing wrong with it. Li Guangjin, a native of Quanzhou, personally experienced these two earthquakes, and Jing Bi Ji is an Amin edition, and the recorded situation is absolutely reliable, so there is no doubt that there was another strong earthquake in Quanzhou in the autumn of 1607. In this earthquake, the north bridge foundation of Luoyang Bridge sank four feet, several large Liang Shi fractures, the piers tilted and the waterways moved. The damage is very serious, which is the biggest damage since Luoyang Bridge was built. Di Qing Palace, the first mountain in Quanzhou, collapsed in the autumn earthquake of 1607.

1. "In the autumn of thirty-five years, there was a big earthquake, a hurricane and rain, and the Qing Emperor Palace was completely destroyed, and the emperor was like a rotten statue" ("The Story of Jing Bi", Volume 8, rebuilt the first mountain Qing Emperor Palace).

2. "The first peak of Wanshan was once Di Qing Palace. Wan's temple collapsed before he reached his age. " ("Static Pen Collection", Volume 8, "Emperor Zun Lu Zan").

3. "In the autumn of thirty-five years of Wanli, there was a great earthquake and hurricanes for days, and the Qing Emperor's Palace was destroyed, and the emperor looked pale" ("Fu Zhi Volume XVI Temple View").

Dongyue Temple was once a famous ancient building in Quanzhou, with a large scale. It was built in the 22nd year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty (1 152), and then rebuilt. It collapsed in the strong earthquake in the autumn of 1607, and even the statue was crushed, which was very serious. Therefore, it is clearly recorded in historical materials that the autumn of 1607 was caused by earthquakes and heavy rains. 1607 During the autumn earthquake, Jing Qing Temple

1. "In the autumn earthquake of thirty-five years of Wanli, the building was tottering and the weather was very bad. If the building is broken, it will be repaired, and if it is right, it will be raised. ..... began in June in Shen Nian (1608) and ended in September in Youyou (1609) (inscription of Li Rebuild Temple in Ming Dynasty, 1609, the monument was erected in September, now the temple).

2. "In the thirty-seventh year of Wanli, the building collapsed in the earthquake, and the houses in the temple accounted for more than 100 people, which was filthy and destroyed. Magistrate Jiang Zhili and magistrate Li donated money to rebuild "(County Records, Volume 15, Magazine Temple and Temple).

3. "Jing Qing Temple ... was once celebrated by the magistrate, and was built by the magistrate Jiang Zhili in Wanli years (Fu Zhi, Volume 16, Temple View).

4. "It is the decay of time and the preciousness of wind and rain. Although the house has not been overturned, if it is scratched, if it is repaired, there is still light and it will eventually collapse "("Static Pen Collection ",Volume 8," Rebuilding Jing Qing Temple to Support the Edge ").

Quanzhou Jing Qing Temple was founded in the Song Dynasty, and it has been nearly 600 years since the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, and it has been repaired in all dynasties. The destruction of Quanzhou Prefecture Records and Jinjiang County Records in the autumn earthquake of 1607 was not recorded in the compilation. However, although the county annals mentioned the earthquake damage of the temple, the date was wrongly set as 1609, which is the thirty-seventh year of Wanli. Fortunately, the original monument written by Li Guang 'an to rebuild the Jing Qing Temple Monument still exists, clearly pointing out that it was damaged in the autumn earthquake of 1607, which can correct the mistakes in the county annals. Because it was repaired once in Qin Long (1567 ~ 1572), it experienced two earthquakes, 1604 and 1607, but it did not completely collapse, just "the building was crumbling", the house tilted and the corner of the building collapsed, so it had to be in 65437. Judging from the project that took one year and three months, the damage is still serious. The gate of Zhifu Yamen in Quanzhou and the gate of Xing Xing in Fu Xue in Quanzhou both collapsed in the 1607 earthquake.

1. "The hurricane on August 28th (thirty-five years of Wanli) damaged the doors of official ceremonies and official studies" (Fu Zhi, volume 73, Xiangyi).

2. "August 28th (thirty-five years of Wanli) was devastated by a hurricane, and the government instrument gate and the government school gate collapsed" (Volume XV of County Records, magazine).

3. "(Wanli) Thirty-six years (according to: 1608), Chen Zhizhen, Li Zhi County, Xiu Ming Lun Tang Ji Men and Ling Xing Men" (County Records Volume 4 School Records).

4. "In the thirty-seventh year of (Wanli) (1609), the temple was destroyed and the magistrate Jiang Zhili repaired it" (Fu Zhi, Volume XIII, School).
