One of the better methods I have used is: 1. Buy some English dictionaries first (three are enough, TOFEL, GRE and New Oriental Six-level Red Book are all better, so I won't go into details).

2. Pick one of them as the first book, and then start to recite, but only recite the first word on each page, page by page, then recite the second word from the first page, and so on.

3. Then, recite the second and third books.

This method is to improve your vocabulary in a short time. It gives people a sense of accomplishment by memorizing only one page (you will have it when you see the book thinning slowly), while memorizing three different word books in succession is just repeating, because different word books have different word arrangement positions.
