When space is limited, it is better to develop upwards. Use ceiling and wall to design hanging cabinets and laminates, with books as cabinets and books as laminates.
It can be arranged in TV wall, porch and other areas, and combined with TV cabinets and shoe cabinets to effectively use the upper space without visual confusion caused by excessive distribution of cabinets. Take the three cases we corrected as examples.
The owner of case 1 especially likes paper books. The bookcase at home is arranged in the TV wall area, next to comfortable carpets and sofas, with good light. There is no need to find a corner suitable for a person to read, and the oversized leisure area is very comfortable.
Because it is a public space, there are not only books on the bookshelf, but also other daily necessities and exhibits. Therefore, the whole storage wall is matched in two forms: open and closed, and the lower layer uses a uniform white storage box by installing door pieces, which avoids the exposure of sundries, looks clean and tidy, and is visually comfortable.
The owner of case 2 is a writer who needs to work at home, and there are many books at home, so the TV background wall becomes a customized functional bookshelf. Generally speaking, this kind of bookshelf hanging on the wall has limited bearing capacity, so it is impossible to fill up the books like in the photos. Their purpose is only to meet the storage of light items and have a stronger decorative effect. Considering that there are many books in the host's house and the hostess loves books, we decided to give this wall more practical value.
Looking at the photos, I think it is quite easy to install such a wall, but behind the invisible partition, there are actually hundreds of nails supporting it ... The wooden strips between the partitions are actually steel strips, but the outer layer is decorated with wooden pipes, otherwise it is impossible to bear the weight by wood alone. What should I pay attention to when designing bookshelves in open space?
Because of the enjoyment of space, besides books, we often need to accommodate the rest of the public life items.
There is a certain demand for storage capacity, and it is best to have a complete wall plan. In the open space, no matter which area, we should take into account the overall sense of space, so the design of the book wall should not only meet the most basic storage function, but also meet the visual aesthetic feeling.
The storage rack, open or closed layout of the cabinet should be considered. For example, moderate hiding can reduce clutter; In order to reduce the oppressive feeling, transparent glass materials can be selected.
As an example, it is actually a comprehensive cabinet, which contains books, sundries and exhibits. Open storage and hidden storage are combined, and the cupboard door in the middle and next to it can be moved, which is convenient for cleaning up sundries. Generally speaking, the storage capacity of a bookcase depends on the arrangement of internal bookshelves. Arranging bookshelves accurately according to the height of books can avoid gaps and obtain the maximum storage capacity.
However, the depth of bookcases is mostly between 28 and 35 cm, and the overall width is suggested to be between 60 and 90 cm. This is because books are relatively heavy, and the laminate span within 60 to 90 cm can effectively support the weight. If the span is designed to exceed 90 cm, the laminate may sag and show a smile curve.
Therefore, if you want to make the bookcase wider and not sunken, it is suggested to add upright support columns between the laminates or thicken the thickness of the laminates for effective support.
According to different book sizes, leave the height of the laminate. In order to store books effectively, we must first understand the basic size of books.
Generally, the height of books is about 15 to 18 cm high and less than 25 cm wide, while the manuscript of magazines is 25 cm and 30 cm high and 30 cm wide respectively.

Shelves in bookcases are classified according to various book sizes, and the shelf spacing of 25 cm and 35 cm can be arranged respectively. Due to the wide width of large books, in order to meet the storage requirements, the depth will mostly be 35 cm. If there are no magazines or original documents, the depth will be 28 to 30 cm.
In order to save more space, we can omit the back plate of the cabinet and change it into a hollow bookcase design to reduce the thickness of the laminate.
The lamination depth of open bookshelves is suitable for local conditions. There is no extra space in the small apartment to store books. If the quantity is small, you can abandon the cabinet and store it in layers. Bookshelves are not limited in position, and the TV wall, sofa background wall and bedside wall can be effectively used. At the same time, it can reduce the number of cabinets that fall to the ground and no longer occupy more space.
There are not many books, so you can design a laminate with a depth of about 5-8 cm on the wall, and change the arrangement of books, such as exposing good-looking book covers or laying books flat.
However, it should be noted that the depth and height of the laminate are different in different areas. For example, the bookshelf laminate is arranged on the back wall of the sofa. It is suggested that the lamination depth should be less than 20 cm, and the height should be 100 cm from the sofa to avoid hitting your head. The floor in the corridor should be controlled within 15 to 20 cm, and the corridor width should be reserved at least 60 cm, so as not to affect walking.
Using the elastic interlayer as the study, the open field of vision is very refreshing.
If you like to broaden your horizons and want to keep your personal thinking space while reading, one way is to use the glass elastic partition and close the door when you want to work, be alone and be undisturbed, so that you can become your own world.

She said that when those books were delivered to her home, they crushed the freight truck ..... and now her biggest headache is that they have nowhere to put them. It's a pity to throw it away, but there is really no place to put it at home.

Combined with the thickness of laminated board, the whole bookcase is about 40 cm deep. Although it is about 5 cm deeper than ordinary bookcases, it can hold twice as much.
