Japanese Waste Classification Book English Edition
Generally speaking, Japan is one of the countries in the world that have done a good job in garbage sorting. After my personal experience in Japan, I found that the meticulous and rigorous garbage sorting method of the Japanese is really worth learning and learning from. Generally speaking, Japanese garbage can be divided into five categories: coarse-grained garbage, combustible garbage, nonflammable garbage, plastic container packaging and resource garbage.

● Rough garbage

Generally speaking, it refers to items over 30 square centimeters, such as gas heaters, furniture, bedding, bicycles, etc. You must apply to the "coarse garbage receiving center" by phone or online in advance to put the garbage in. Don't worry, except for the holidays at the end of the year and the beginning of the year, this center is open 24 hours a day. Even on Sundays, "coarse garbage" is recycled.

There are two ways to put "coarse garbage": "recycling" and "bringing in". "Recycling" refers to the door-to-door recycling of relevant personnel. "Bringing in" means sending large-scale garbage directly to the recycling station, and each household can put up to 30 pieces a year.

It should be noted that air conditioners, televisions, washing machines, dryers, refrigerators, etc. It does not belong to the category of "coarse garbage". These rubbish should be sent to the retailers or trade-in shops. If it can't be delivered, then apply to the "Home Appliances Recycling Acceptance Center". Computers do not belong to the category of "coarse garbage". If you need to put it in, you should contact the manufacturer and entrust them to recycle it.

● Combustible garbage

Generally, it includes kitchen waste, paper scraps, clothes, a small amount of tree branches and leaves, plastics, rubber products and leather products other than plastic container packaging (with plastic labels attached). It can be delivered twice a week.

Try to filter out the kitchen waste before putting it in. Cooking oil should be solidified or drained with paper and cloth to ensure that it does not fly away. Bamboo sticks and plastic sticks should be wrapped in paper and marked with the word "danger". Diapers and so on. You should rinse it before throwing it.

In addition, the amount of "combustible garbage" that can be discarded at a time shall not exceed 45 liters (up to 3 bags). Dirty or dirty plastic identification items that are difficult to fall off can be put into "combustible garbage". Articles such as belts and wallets that have not been taken out of metal can also be put into "combustible garbage" if most of them are leather or synthetic leather.

● Non-combustible garbage

This kind of garbage can be thrown 1 time every other week, including metal, glass products, ceramics, dry batteries, lighters (after using fillers), aluminum products, umbrellas, containers and bottles for food and drinks (such as cosmetics), and household appliances under 30 cm.

The amount of garbage that a family can throw away at a time should not exceed 45 liters. It is worth noting that sharp articles such as glass, needles and knives should be wrapped in paper and marked with the word "danger". Because fire and explosion accidents often occur in sweepers and garbage disposal facilities, gas tanks, spray cans, lighters and so on. It must be emptied and put in a bag separated from other non-combustible garbage.

● Plastic container packaging

This kind of garbage is usually classified strictly according to plastic labels. Plastic containers, bags, parcels, hoses and plastic cushioning materials with special "plastic labels" are all plastic packages, which can be put/kloc-0 times a week.

Use up all the stuffing before putting it in. Wash and drain the dirty things on the package as much as possible, that is, the oily liquid will not drip down and become sticky. When there is dirt on the "plastic container packaging" that cannot or is difficult to fall off, it should be put into the "combustible garbage". When there is no plastic label or it is impossible to judge whether it is a plastic product, it should also be put into "combustible garbage".

● Resource garbage

This kind of garbage generally includes plastic soft bottles, food trays, old paper, bottles, cans and so on. Used for holding cold drinks, wine, condiments, etc. It can be delivered 1 time a week.

Wash the inside of the soft bottle, flatten it and put it in. Plastic bottle caps and labels are placed on the "plastic label collection day" and paper labels are placed on the "combustible garbage".

Although food trays made of expanded polystyrene are labeled with plastic, in some areas of Japan, food trays can be recycled as "resources" in order to recycle better materials. Before placing, clean the stickers and plastic wrap on the food tray a little before placing. Food trays that have not been punctured or broken by toothpicks should be cleaned and placed on the "Plastic Label Collection Day". Cleaning and stripping plastic packaging, etc. , should also be labeled "plastic label collection day". Instant noodle paper cups (bowls) can put "combustible garbage".

Wash the bottles before you put them in. Metal bottle caps, cosmetic bottles and oil bottles should be put into "non-combustible garbage". As a reusable "recyclable bottle", beer bottles should be returned to the store when purchased.

Dirty cartons should be cleaned and cut, dried and put into use. Some cartons are attached with nylon, metal and other parts, so try to remove them before putting them in. However, some old paper belongs to flammable garbage, such as used napkins, sticky paper, photos, thermal paper, carbonless copy paper, gold paper or silver paper, paper cups and so on. And paper with strong flavor, such as waterproof paper, paper with detergent, thread box, etc.
