How did Kan's surname come from?
Kan's surname came from the fief of Doctor Song in the Spring and Autumn Period. In the Spring and Autumn Period, a doctor in the State of Song was named Kan, and his descendants took Kan as their surname. Later, a war broke out between Song and Lu. In the seventh year of King Huan of Zhou, the army of Lu invaded the territory of Song and defeated Song Jun in Kanyi. Since then, Karez has become the territory of Lu.

After the loss of Kanyi in Song Dynasty, Dr. Song took his former food city as his surname and called it Kanyi. Later, Kan Yu in Han Dynasty and Kan Chongsi in Tang Dynasty were descendants of this doctor in Song Dynasty.
