The road of learning
Jin embarked on the road of academic research based on self-study. When I was a primary and secondary school teacher in my early years, I studied a lot of pre-Qin ancient books and academic works of some famous scholars after work. His early famous work "Yitong" was written when he was in exile in Shanhaiguan and taught in Northeast Middle School.
Although he didn't learn from the teacher, he often had independent opinions other than the sages at that time. He once told his students that it is important to keep innovating and dare to challenge authority. In the late 1930s, he wrote Yi Tong. In the preface, he set eight commandments for himself, namely, don't deceive yourself, don't harm others, don't be selfish, don't be innovative, don't show off knowledge, be creative, be refined, and be honest and objective. These "four noes" and "four preciousness" have always run through his academic pursuit for decades.
After the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Party, with the deepening of ideological emancipation, Jin ushered in another spring in the process of engaging in academic research. Although he has entered the eighties, he is still in power, diligent and even too young. Most of his works were completed during this period. Although he is nearly 100 years old, he still holds social posts such as consultant of China Pre-Qin Historical Society, vice president of china confucius foundation, consultant of the State Council Ancient Books Arrangement and Publishing Planning Group, consultant of Oriental International Institute of Yi Studies, and consultant of Jilin Historical Society.
Although he has won so many honors, he always says modestly that he is just an authentic teacher. Indeed, he spent most of his past time teaching and educating people. At the celebration of his ninety-fifth birthday, he once humorously said to the guests and his students, "I have taught students at all levels except kindergarten." After nearly 80 years of teaching ups and downs, all his students are full of peaches and plums. Under his guidance, there are as many as 23 doctoral students in pre-Qin history, many of whom have become well-known scholars in domestic academic circles and are making their own contributions to the academic prosperity of the motherland in their respective teaching and scientific research posts.
Scientific attainments
1, an expert in Yi studies
Professor Jin is a famous expert in Yi studies at home and abroad. Yi Tong, written in 1939, is one of the earliest works to study Zhouyi under the guidance of Marxist theory, and it is also his famous work. After arriving at Jida University, he published more than 20 papers about Yi Shuo, the author of the Book of Changes, and published four books of the Book of Changes, lectures on the Book of Changes, complete interpretation of the Book of Changes, and detailed explanation of the new version of the Book of Changes. It is unique in the field of Yi-ology research at home and abroad and is called the "Golden School".
2. Confucius research field.
Professor Jin has always believed: "China has Confucius, rather, it is the glory of the Chinese nation."
The study of Confucius' masterpiece "The New Biography of Confucius" and more than 20 related papers has an important influence in academic circles. He believes that Confucius' thought has two cores, one is "time" and the other is "benevolence" Special emphasis: in the study of Confucius, Confucianism and Confucianism should be strictly distinguished, and the two should not be confused.
3. Marxist historical research
Professor Jin's achievements in the theoretical research of Marxist historiography mainly include four points:
First of all, the theory of feudal unification in Qin Dynasty is based on the issue of the staging of China's ancient history. This is an important school of ancient history staging in China.
Secondly, it puts forward the theory that there is a long transition period from primitive society to civilized society. According to this theory, it is concluded that although the Xia Dynasty established a country, it still had this transition.
Thirdly, according to the related expositions of Marx, Engels and Lenin, a new scientific conclusion is put forward on the class and class struggle in China slave society. It is pointed out that the class and class struggle in slave society is the struggle between class and class.
Fourthly, he made an important contribution to the study of the history of social system in the pre-Qin period. Mr. Jin used Marx's theory of "two kinds of production" to explain the patriarchal clan system, and thought that the patriarchal clan system was a system in which the rulers reformed, restricted and used the blood relationship under the historical conditions of full development of class relations, in order to serve the maintenance of monarchical power. This has broken the essence of patriarchal clan system, thus clearing up the wrong views that have been popular for a long time in the historical field. Under the guidance of Marxist historical materialism, he also pointed out that the mining field system is actually the concrete manifestation of the rural commune or Marquez land system discussed by Marx and Engels in China, which convincingly solved the long-debated mining field system in academic circles and many important topics closely related to it.
4. Ancient ideological and cultural studies.
The study of ancient ideology and culture is also Professor Jin's specialty. Professor Jin's exposition on the origin of China's ancient thoughts, the two great contributions of the Western Zhou Dynasty in philosophy, and the theoretical, Confucian classics and historical research on the origin of Shang culture in northern China have a wide influence in academic circles. He has three remarkable characteristics in the study of China's ancient ideological history: first, he pays attention to the combination of philology research and ideological history research; Second, pay attention to the combination of Confucian classics research and ideological history research; Third, he is good at combining the study of ideological history with the study of social history. His research results fully show that he is an expert in ancient history and ideological history with systematic social history theory.
Introduction of works
In his early years, he wrote A General Interpretation of the Righteousness of the Spring and Autumn Period, as well as papers written after liberation, such as On China's Patriarchal System and Class Structure of Slave Society, as well as Two Questions about Laozi's Philosophy, explaining "Two Difficulties", "Chu Ji", "Three" and "Lin Zhi"-reading notes and ancient history of China. There are two cores in Confucius' thought, as well as several problems in China's slave society, such as the mining field system, the slave social history of China, the lectures of Zhouyi, the biography of new Confucius, and the new explanation of Yu Xia's book. Can put forward their own independent opinions on some major basic issues in the field of pre-Qin history research.
Jin is one of the earliest scholars who studied Zhouyi with Marxist theory and method in China. He likes Zhouyi since he was a child. But after reading all the previous works, he still can't fully understand some basic problems of this classic. In the late 1930s, he was exiled between Hunan and Sichuan with the Northeast Middle School, and accidentally got Lenin's Critique of Materialism and Experience translated by Fu Zidong, with Dialectics in the appendix. When he was reading the Book of Changes, he realized that some problems he had encountered before reading the Book of Changes had been completely solved, so he forgot to eat and sleep, and only wrote the book of the Book of Changes in his spare time, expounding the basic ideas of the Book of Changes from a dialectical point of view.
In his later years, he was mainly engaged in the study of China's ancient ideological history. In addition to writing a large number of works, he also actively devoted himself to combining this research with the study of ancient philology, Confucian classics and ancient social history, and made creative contributions to the methodological construction of the study of China's ideological history.
Personality assessment
Become famous by self-study
Mr. Jin didn't go to college, but became famous by self-study hard. He has read hundreds of classics and history books. He devoted himself to the study of Confucian classics in his early years, and turned to historiography after working in Northeast Renmin University, taking the road of "from Confucian classics to historiography". His academic interests are quite extensive, and he has made great achievements in Yi-ology, Confucius, ancient social system, ancient ideology and culture, Marxist historical theory and the study of ancient books.
The characteristics of Mr. Jin's scholarship are that he is good at independent thinking, not superstitious and blind in academic research, insisting on his own words, taking his own path, and never drifting with the tide. He dared to stick to the truth, challenged authority, and showed theoretical courage to obey only the truth.
Anyone who has read Jin Lao's works can appreciate Jin Lao's academic contribution, and a gentleman can talk as much as he can. Here, it is briefly summarized as three aspects:
First, the contribution to the study of pre-Qin history and literature. Mr. Wang has constructed his own ancient history system, and has many original opinions on ancient history staging, ancient system, ancient social structure, ideology and culture. The research on poetry, calligraphy, three rites and three biographies of Spring and Autumn is more incisive than previous generations.
Second, the research contribution to Confucius thought and pre-Qin Confucianism. Mr. Wang's achievements in this respect are even more fruitful, especially the research on Confucius' ideological system, the modern value of Confucianism and the relationship between Confucius and the Six Classics is unique and attracts worldwide attention.
Third, the contribution to Yi-ology. Mr. Wang Can discussed the origin and profound connotation of the Book of Changes, especially the relationship between Confucius and the Book of Changes.
broad and profound
Jin Lao's knowledge is profound, and Jin Lao's character is even more respectable.
Jinmen disciples have made outstanding achievements in inheriting the teachings of their teachers, studying hard and promoting the learning of Jin Lao. We know that Jin Lao has been teaching for decades and has trained dozens of doctoral and master students. The seedlings planted in those years have now grown into big trees, forming a school in the field of pre-Qin history in China, known as the "Golden Sect". Comfort Mr. Wang with this spectacular sight. If Mr. Wang knows in the grave, he will be very satisfied. Of course, Mr. Wang also hopes that students can surpass themselves and let their schools innovate constantly, so that their knowledge will not be as scarce as the morning star, but let them blossom and bear fruit.
school achievement
On the occasion of the second anniversary of Mr. King's death, Jilin University, Sichuan University and Jilin Normal University jointly initiated the compilation and publication of Jin Xuean, which reflected the academic life and career achievements of his disciples in Kinmen as a souvenir.
