Development Orientation of Southwest University of Science and Technology Library
Driven by networking and informatization, libraries have been actively exploring the use of modern management technology to improve the efficiency of running libraries. Since 1995, the automatic management system has been built, and it has been gradually upgraded from the DOS version of PC+Server (the golden disk system in Xishan Campus) to the current Huiwen system with good comprehensive performance, and the safeguard means such as uninterrupted power supply and remote backup have been established. The system connects the whole school 14 reference rooms and unifies the cataloging platform, which provides a guarantee for the efficient operation of the library and the effective management of the whole school's information resources. As the information center of the whole school, the library has directly established gigabit connection with the network center, and all terminals have 100 megabytes to the desktop, which provides high-speed, stable and effective access guarantee for readers inside and outside the school. The library actively built a networked service platform, built a dual-channel redundant optical fiber storage facility with SAN structure, and together with the direct access disk array with DAS structure, formed a local mass storage system with a total amount of 15T. Ensure 7*24 hours uninterrupted service of online resources. At present, all the basic services of the library, including document borrowing, electronic reading, information retrieval, subject navigation and document delivery, have been automated. An online information resource service system consisting of network database, local database and self-built database has been formed, which provides readers at different levels with the services of inquiring, browsing and downloading titles, abstracts, Chinese and foreign periodicals, conference papers and e-books. The library has also introduced a superstar digital processing platform to provide courseware materials for teachers, reference tools for students, and the latest thematic resource library for researchers.
