I like buying books, but I think borrowing books is better than buying books as far as reading is concerned. Why? There are many books in my house that have not been opened. Every time I buy a book with great interest, the moment I pay, it seems that I have read the book. When I put it on the shelf, it may have been finished. I haven't read it for a long time, so I haven't read many new books. Borrowed books need to be returned, and there is a time limit, so we will force ourselves to finish reading them within a certain time. Because books are not our own, we will take notes on some contents, so the borrowed books have greater motivation and higher reading efficiency.
Does that mean you don't even have to buy books? I don't think so. The premise of buying books now is this:
First of all, when you first hear a book, when you first come into contact with a book, you may ask about the main content, content and so on. Generally, I read it on a treasure website or local website, the general framework of the book catalogue, and comments. If it proves to be worth reading, I will carry out the next stage of investigation. If it is not the book I want, I will give it up at this stage.
Then, for the books that have passed the first stage, I will read them again on Douban. For those with high scores, I will take the next step, otherwise I will give up.
Thirdly, after the last two stages of the book, you can basically read it. At this stage, I generally take two measures. One is to listen to the book first, and the other is to see if there are any e-books You can try. If these two stages are still recognized and worth buying, you can go directly to the next stage, otherwise you will only stay at this stage;
Finally, if I pass the books in the above three stages and I think it is worth buying, then I will buy and collect them online or in bookstores.
Of course, in fact, in the past, many books were bought on impulse, and the content was relatively general and not of much value, but all the books I bought this year were bought through these steps. And I really don't regret it. For example, I bought How to Read a Book last month, read the recommendation and read the whole book on micro-reading. The first edition of this book is 1940, which has been selling well for so many years. For example, Besieged City has a high score of Douban, which I think is of great literary value, so I won't regret buying such a book. There are also some reference books, which are necessary to buy because of their high frequency of use.
No matter what books you buy or borrow, you actually need to spend time in the process of reading, but some books may spend more time and some books spend less time. I used to hope that I could have the ability to finish reading without reading anything, as in the legend, and get the information in the book quickly, but in fact, this is unrealistic, not to say that it can't be realized, but it is impossible for a person to have such an effect under the condition of insufficient knowledge reserve and little reading. Then his understanding pool will be very large, and there will be a lot of links when he reads, so he has reached the state of reading thousands of books without reading anything, and all this can only be achieved by reading more and reading more to a certain extent.
The benefits of reading are self-evident, so I won't go into details here. I hope I can advance and retreat with friends from all walks of life who love reading and read the best books in the world.
