Overcome parents' own rejection of English.
The reason I hear the most about not showing English picture books to my children is: "My English is not good, and I am afraid that my accent is not standard, which will lead to my children's bad." If your Mandarin has a dialect accent, will you give up chatting with your children? Of course, the answer is no, because you think "chatting with children" is much more important than "clear pronunciation and mellow voice let children learn Mandarin well through you". There are many environments and channels for children to learn English in the future, but sitting in their parents' arms and reading with picture books is only a few years. Therefore, if parents want to expose their children to some English picture books and are not confident about their children's English reading ability, what they should do is to find ways to strengthen their children's English reading ability, instead of sticking to whether there is an accent in English or not, let alone simply exclude these picture books from the family reading list. -Excerpt from: "Parents' English is not good, and children read English picture books like this" Kelly
