Tongyu academy. It is the predecessor of Xiaodong Middle School. It was founded in the 19th year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty (namely 1893). It was initiated by Fang Fengyuan, a squire and a man of insight in Xiaodong Jishui Village, sponsored by Feng Zicai, a national hero, and raised funds by local people. The school site is located in Huitouling, an important town in the north of Qin Dynasty, in the middle of Wei Xiaodong. It covers an area of more than 40 mu and is surrounded by flat terrain. It is bordered by Jiang Xiaodong in the west and Tongyu Mountain (namely Gudouling), a famous mountain in Qin Zhou in the north, hence the name "Tongyu Academy". The gate of the Academy is wide, with a stone carving of "Tongyu Academy" above it, and a couplet inscribed on both sides with the words "Merit of Copper Column, Time of Fish Dragon Changing", inscribed by a famous person in Qinzhou, Wang Shizong (Heezen). Lianzhong's "meritorious service with bronze pillars" is based on historical allusions. According to historical records, during the Eastern Han Dynasty, Jiaozhi tribe (now Yue) rebelled against the imperial court, and often went in and out of Qin Fang to harass and plunder, making people miserable. Ma Yuan (General Fu Bo) was ordered to conquer and drive the cross-toed rebels to the south of Fenmaoling (today's address is unknown), and set up several copper columns on Fenmaoling as the boundary, writing "Copper columns are broken and cross-toed is destroyed". Cross-toed rebels never dared to harass us again, so that the people could live and work in peace and contentment. General Ma has made great contributions to our future. The "Bronze Pillar Meritorious Land" is a place where the country trains talents like General Ma Yuan for the nation. When the fish changed into a dragon, the fish turned into a dragon. This is a folklore, which means that talents change from junior to senior. This association means that it is time for students to study in Tongyu College and become excellent talents. The academy is designed and built according to the style of Guangzhou Guangya Academy. The original three seats are divided into main seat, middle seat and front seat; The corridors on both sides are called "Dongzhai" and "Xizhai". When Tongyu Academy was completed, Feng Zicai presented "Tiankai Yunwen" and "Jun is a Confucian" plaques, which were erected at the main entrance and the central hall of the Academy respectively (these two plaques have been lost today). Due to years of disrepair, the middle block is a dangerous building, which was demolished on 1988 with the approval of relevant departments. From 1966 to 1976, the school was disturbed by the impact of the "cultural revolution", the normal teaching order was disrupted, some right and wrong were reversed, some original monuments of Tongyu Academy were destroyed, and books and materials were almost lost.
