Strictly speaking, there is only one military academy in Changsha, and that is "National University of Defense Technology", full name: National University of Defense Technology of PLA. This school is a comprehensive military university directly under the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and has always been a key institution for national and military construction. China People's Liberation Army's national defense science and technology is one of the key construction projects in the First Five-Year Plan 156, one of the 20 key universities in China identified by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China 1959, and the first batch of institutions approved by the State Council to award master's and doctor's degrees. It is the first batch of pilot graduate schools in China, the first batch of institutions to enter the national "2 1 1 Project" construction plan, the only institution in the whole army to enter the ranks of the national "985 Project" construction, and the key institutions supported by the national "double-class" construction.

Scientific research achievements: National University of Defense Technology has made a large number of independent innovation achievements represented by Tianhe series supercomputer system, key technologies of Beidou satellite navigation and positioning system, Tiantuo series micro-nano satellites, laser gyroscopes, ultra-precision machining and maglev trains, and made important contributions to China's "two bombs and one satellite" and manned space flight. Tianhe-2 supercomputer system developed by our school won the title of world supercomputer for six consecutive times.

Collection resources: The Library of National University of Defense Technology has established a document resource system with key disciplines of science and engineering as the core, featuring military documents, and the coordinated development of science, engineering, military, literature, management, economics and philosophy. More than 3.3 million printed documents (pieces), including more than 2.3 million books in Chinese and foreign languages, 900,000 microfilms, and 65,438 printed scientific reports and internal materials. A digital library including 98 large-scale comprehensive databases and more than 60 special databases or sub-databases/kloc-0 has been built, and the international synchronous retrieval of foreign literature databases such as SCI, EI and CPCI-S(ISTP original) has been realized. We have established extensive sharing and cooperation relations with domestic and foreign library and information institutions.

Teaching staff: the school has formed a high-level teaching staff of "leading talents+innovative team", with academicians of the two academies 16, candidates for the "Ten Thousand Talents Program" 13, 9 winners of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 24 national candidates for the Million Talents Project, national famous teachers and excellent teachers of the whole army 152, and outstanding majors in the army. National innovation breakthrough award medal commendation team 1 team, 2 innovation research groups of NSFC, 8 national teaching teams and 0 national innovation team1team. In 20 12, the school's high-performance computing innovation team won the first batch of national scientific and technological progress innovation team awards.
